The company behind the stories.
Empire Reset Productions is an independent film studio, co-created and co-owned by Rich Lowe and Segen Gebremariam, built on a simple conviction: that one creative hand, accountable for every frame, makes better films.

Two origins, one company.
Empire Reset Productions began with two people who each carried a story into it. Rich Lowe, a filmmaker who first stood on a stage at fourteen in New York and trained at the Brooklyn High School of the Arts — what began as a young actor learning his craft in front of an audience became the foundation of a career spent learning every craft behind it. And Segen Gebremariam, a co-creator and co-owner of the company who grew up in Philadelphia, bringing a producer's instinct for stories, people, and the long road from idea to screen.
After years as an actor — reading other people's scripts, taking direction on other people's sets, waiting on other people's schedules — Rich made the decision that would become the company's thesis: to stop waiting for the kind of stories he wanted to tell and to build them. He and Segen write them together, finance them together, assemble the crews to bring them to life together, sit in the edit with them until they are finished, and then carry them out into the world together.
He didn't have to make that journey alone. With Segen — whose home in Philadelphia shaped the resilience and straight talk she brings to every project — the company grew into something neither could have built on their own. Two founders, two perspectives, one studio, held together by the same conviction: that an independent company in Atlanta, moving a film from the first page of a script to the day it streams, can tell stories with nothing lost in translation.

One vision, start to finish.
Most productions are a relay race between strangers — a writer hands off to a producer, who hires a director, who briefs an editor. Information is lost at every exchange. Ideas get diluted; intentions get blurred.
At Empire Reset, Segen and Rich move every film together, from department to department. Rich edits — and handles all the sound editing, the music supervision, and the creation of original music for each film — so he writes and shoots with the cut and the score in mind. He has performed, so he directs actors with the empathy of having been directed. Segen steers the projects alongside him — the financing, the deals, the long road from idea to screen — so nothing moves without both of them behind it.
Segen and Rich know how to hire — and how to trust — because, together, they have done the work of every department. That is the reason productions trust the company: they are not buying a name or a logo, but a founding team. One creative hand on the craft, one steady hand on the company — Segen and Rich, accountable together for every frame.

A studio with a point of view
The story is the business
Script first, always. No amount of production polish can rescue a weak idea, so we spend our energy where it counts — before any camera rolls.
Own the whole road
From the first page of the screenplay to the stream on your screen, the project never leaves one pair of hands. Accountability is the product.
Lean can still be ambitious
Independent budgets demand bigger filmmaking. We shoot with the discipline of editors and the reach of an audience already in mind.
